Racism

Any action, attitude or practice that results in lesser treatment of people based on their skin colour, ethnicity, culture, nationality, religion or language.

We have a student population that is diverse. As such, we must be aware of the issues of racism in schools and in the curriculum, whether real or perceived. Students should be able to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours to live in a racially and culturally diverse world. Staff must also have the opportunity to talk openly and safely about racial issues. Many have worked on eliminating racism but we must continue to address racism in our school and work environments if we are to achieve equity for students and staff.
