Graffiti Activities and Electronic Harassment

Intro
|
|
Peel
District School Board employees have the following
responsibilities with respect to any hate-based
graffiti, literature or pornography located on or
accessible from Board premises. Such material
might be displayed publicly, distributed either
electronically or manually, or stored in electronic
telecommunications.

Staff And Teachers
|
|
Report the incident(s) immediately to your
administrator, supervisor, or manager.

Administrators, Supervisors, and Managers
|
|
- Document
the incident(s): date, location, any surrounding
information.
- Preserve
either the original or a copy using the
appropriate means: e.g., printout (for e-mail),
tape (telephone messages), sample original
(flyer/poster), photograph (graffiti).
- Notify
the Peel Regional Police Intelligence Unit, and
ask them whether they need to be involved in
handling the matter.
- In
the case of graffiti:
- If
the police will be involved, follow police
instructions regarding whether and/or when to
remove the offending graffiti
- If
the police will not be involved, remove the
offending graffiti as soon as possible. If
immediate removal is not possible, cover
securely until all traces can be properly and
completely removed
- Report
the matter to the Superintendent of HRS.
Forward all documentation and evidence along
with a written report.
Please
note: Administrators must also inform their
supervisor of program and their
superintendent.
